Block of the Month

In 2012 we will be offering you two block of the month programs to follow:

Block of the Month Classic:

Lynn Fullshire will lead us in a new type of block of the month, with sashing included on each block. Make the block from the offered pattern and turn it in the next month for a chance at winning all or a group of the blocks made by fellow members. AND/OR make the blocks each month in your own color choices.

Block of The Month Challenge:

This year we were inspired by the Rose of Sharon Block Challenge done by The Electric Quilt Company recently. (There’s even a book they published with many of the sample blocks in it!) The Rose of Sharon pattern is made up of three basic shapes; a circle, a flower and a petal, layered with different colored fabrics for best effect. Sandee Curry will lead us through 8-3/4″ squares of these floral blocks. Click on the link below for more details.

When printing out pdf files/directions, see diagram below. Set Page Scaling to None.If your printer does not have the page scaling feature, there may be a similar feature that controls printing pdfstrue to size. Measure known dimensions of your patterns to ensure you start out with templates or foundationsthat are the correct size. The patterns will still work if you can’t find this feature on your printer window or properties, just be aware that your block will sew out at 1/2 to 1″ or more smaller in most cases. For BOM Classic this WILL be a problem, since you are required to hand in a 12-1/2″ unfinished block. BOM Challenge is not specific to finished sizes since the project is only for you. Any questions, contact your BOM coordinators.
